Benjamin Kuch is the writer, director, cameraman and editor of Death in Byron.

He was born into a German middle class family in 1978 and grew up in a small village near Stuttgart. Since his childhood he has been drawing his artistic identity from music as he started taking piano lessons at the age of six for more than twelve years. Hence, he gained his first public attention as a semi-professional pianist. Apart from his musical side he has always been strongly technology-orientated and already started gaining profound PC experience from the late 1980s.

After highschool he moved to the city where he started studying information science and business administration at the University of Applied Sciences, Stuttgart. Before that his dream of becoming a feature film director has been growing stronger for many years. In 2002 he began working at DaimlerChrysler (the parent company of Mercedes-Benz) as an intern and working student and thus gained extensive experience in a professional working environment. He worked for 2.5 years within the Mercedes-Benz development department as a system administrator.

In the meantime the SAE Institute, an international college for audio, film, multimedia and animation started a film course at their Stuttgart location. A door for the film world opened and Ben stepped in. He graduated the first year as top of the class and continued to study at the SAE headquarters at Byron Bay, Australia, where he completed his Bachelor of Arts with Upper Second Class Honours, a degree validated by Middlesex University, London (UK).

After his return from Australia to Germany he made a few documentary films for a charity organisation, but then decided to move to London to pursue a career in post-production. He now works in TV as a staff editor, having first gained experience in Avid editing systems at Overseas Property TV (Sky 287) and later at Final Cut Pro based, award-winning lifestyle channel Wedding TV (Sky 277) - Winner of Best Specialist Channel at Broadcast Digital Channel Awards 2008.
